121212 Concert for Sandy Relief

Many people in the NJ/NY area woke up on October 30th not only to massive flooding, down trees and no power but some woke up to everything they have worked for their whole lives – GONE.

I for one am a NJ Girl, born & raised. I don’t think a lot of us really appreciated sites such as the boardwalk that we spent so many summers on until we had to view it like this…

The pictures of people’s homes and businesses gone is devastating. The news stories about the children as well as the men & women who lost their life during this super storm is something no one will ever forget. Normalcy is something that will not return for a while but the amount of support from people and volunteer groups is incredible. Those volunteers are truly the sunshine after such a dark  time.

While listening to Elvis Duran I heard them discussing this concert

I LKE THE MOTIVATION BEHIND THE CONCERT, BUT I CAN’T STAND TWO THIRDS OF THE PERFORMERS.I’M CERTIAN I’D BE FORCED TO LISTEN TO PERFORMANCES I REALLY DON’T LIKE JUST TO SEE WHAT I DO. WHILE IT’S FOR A GOOD CAUSE, I REFUSE TO WATCH WHAT I DON’T LIKE. WHY COULDN’T POTIENTIAL VIEWERS DOWNLOAD ONLY THE PERFORMANCES THEY WANT?

I think there’s a wide variety of genres to satisfy the taste of all viewers. A lot of the performers are very influential to the NJ/NY area also. I personally like all genres & I’m excited to see all the performers but I’m sure there are many who wish they could only DL certain ones.

While you might have eclectic tastes in music, I do not. So if this concert is formatted so that I don’t know who and when a particular act is performing, then thank you no. Further, I wont be buying a compliation which includes artist and their performances that I don’t care for. If, on the other hand, I can cherry pick what I want then count me in.

As someone who was personally affected by Sandy, (thankfully not as bad as some of the neighboring towns – I, unlike many others, still have a home to go to) this concert is NOT just about the music… it is about the CAUSE all the artist are coming out for and the money that will go towards the rebuild.

Raised and lived most of my life in Jersey, but couldn’t afford live show. However, concert was wonderful. Loving mostly 60’s/70’s/early 80’s music did it for me. The Boss didn’t get named that for nothing. Hope you and your neighbors are getting better – hate that political junk that just happened, but don’t get me started… Hope NJ & NY get the help they so desperately need SOON!
Thanks also for liking my post “Colorado”; appreciate the nod a lot!

It’s really nice to read comments and opinion on serious matter like this. For someone that wasn’t affected by Sandy, ( but do know some that were). I have to agree with pearlsandparis here. I don’t really care for som of the performers. But as mentioned, “this concert is NOT just about the music… it is about the CAUSE”- well said!
