On Giving Birth: “Everything that scared me just was not present in that room. So for me to really let go and really appreciate every contraction . . . it was the best day of my life.”

On her split with her father as business manager:  “My soul has been tarnished. My father taught me so much about being a businesswoman,” she says. “And I’m understanding him a lot now. . . . A lot of the crazy things he did were necessary.”

On rumors of a fake pregnancy: “That was very odd. Who even thinks that? Like, who would make that up. . . . You can’t take it too seriously.”

Beyoncé says her new music “is a lot more sensual . . . empowering.” It celebrates being a wife and a mother, reflecting the obvious changes in her life. “Right now, after giving birth, I really understand the power of my body,” she says. “I just feel my body means something completely different. I feel a lot more confident about it. Even being heavier, thinner, whatever. I feel a lot more like a woman. More feminine, more sensual. And no shame.”

As quickly as it came was as quickly as it went.

Another Target collaboration debuted yesterday. This time they have linked up with Prabal Gurung who Launched his 1st collection during NYFW in 2009. I’m sad to say that the collection is completely sold out online but some stores do have scattered pieces so it’s worth it to try your local Target.

Here’s a look at some of the collection:

Were you lucky enough to score a few pieces?

The Grammys is basically the Superbowl of Fashion & Music!

It is my favorite award show every year and the outfits and performances never disappoint and this year was no different.

My favorite performances of the night were:

1. Rihanna & Mikky Ecko

2. Miguel & Wiz Khalifa

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhxlcbbZ8HY]

3. Bob Marley Tribute featuring:

Sting, Bruno Mars, Rihanna + Damian & Ziggy Marley

Some other hit performances were Kelly Clarkson, Mumford & Sons, Alicia Keys with Maroon 5, and Carrie Underwood. A big miss for me unfortunately was Frank Ocean. I think he chose the wrong song and his voice usually sends chills down your spine yet last night it did the opposite.

Now let’s talk fashion!

Prior to the big day, CBS sent out a memo about the do’s & dont’s for the Grammy Awards attire. Needless to say, no one really cared about that memo LOL

Here were my favorite looks:

Rihanna in a custom red Azzedine Alaïa dress

rihanna

Jennifer Lopez in a high slit gown by Anthony Vaccarello

& accompanied by the very handsome Casper Smart

JLo

Katy Perry in Gucci

KP

Beyonce wearing a Jumpsuit by Osman

Bey

Kelly Rowland…. it doesn’t matter who this gown was by (Georges Chakra couture) because she looked beyond perfection.

This was my favorite look of the night!

Florence Welch in Givency – while I am not big on those lump looking things, the color is amazing

Florence

Estelle in Genelle Brooks x Love Collins

I know that those last 2 outfits were on some Worst Dressed List but I love when people take a chance, especially at the Grammys. At least they didn’t show up dressed like Kaley Cuoco, while she looked cute this is the Grammys not Sunday Brunch with the girls.

Who were Fashion hits & misses for you?

I was recently introduced to JewelMint through my monthly PopSugar subscription when I received a free credit. JewelMint is a collaboration between Kate Bosworth and celeb stylist Cher Coulter that brings you affordable but fashionable jewelry. It is a monthly subscription website which is $29.99 a month and provides you with personalized pieces to match your style based on your style profile results. You always have the option to “skip the month” and you can shop from all collections instead of just your Showroom.

1 credit = $29.99

With my credit I was lucky enough to score The Essential Mystery Box! I’m not too sure how often this particular option is offered but I have heard from other subscribers that it is once a month. The Mystery Box comes with at least 4 pieces of jewelry + a bonus savings that will arrive via e-mail towards the end of the month while some boxes can contain up to 10 pieces. Unfortunately, I was not one of the lucky ones who received more than 4 pieces.

What I received:

JM4

This bracelet was a very pretty coral red color and was lightweight yet sturdy which is a plus! The design also makes this piece very versatile.

JM5

These earrings do not photograph well but they are fabulous and will go great with evening wear for a special occasion or a night out on the town.

JM6

This is not a piece I would have ultimately picked out from a website but I am super in love with it! Being able to hold it and try it on shows the dimension of it and all the details and it is  a bold statement piece.

JM7

ehhh – The box could have done without this item. It is not my style at all and I just am not a fan of denim jewelry especially when it is matched with a large bronzed heart with a cactus in the middle. This reminded me of a Western and maybe being from NJ I just don’t appreciate the design but I’m sure others will love it, which is why it will be included in one of my next Giveaways.

Overall, I am very happy with the JewelMint Mystery Box. I do wish it included a ring since that is the type of jewelry I wear most. Even though I did not have to pay for this one since I had the credit, it is worth the $29.99 and I definitely will be interested in the next one they offer. I basically got 3 pieces that I can put to use and they normally would go for $29.99 each on JewelMint. I do have to say that the pieces on the website are fabulous and a lot of them are unique but I don’t see myself paying $29.99 for just 1.

If it wasn’t apparent from previous posts, I love Rihanna.

The media always seems to focus on her “Good Girl Gone Bad” persona and always comment about her personal life and I guess as an artist – you have to expect it. This is the industry you entered and you knew you would be put under a microscope. I don’t focus on those things because to me, she’s an artist with an incredible voice and stage presence that puts a lot of others to shame AND mainly because I don’t know her personally, so who am I to judge? I’m sure there are plenty of average Joe’s & Jane’s whose actions would make Rihanna look like a saint.

She graces the latest issue of Rolling Stone, out on stands tomorrow.

…& kudos to Terry Richardson, who is amazing at what he does.
