I’ve been a fan of SK-II for quite some time now. They are pioneers in the skincare industry and very well known for their luxorious products to keep your skin healthy, smooth and more youthful looking. When I found out that they had a global campaign going on all about the pressures and “expiration date” that society puts on women, I knew I wanted and HAD to share this message with my readers.

SKII_Logo

It’s 2017 and there are still so many people around the world that think there is a certain timeline that women must follow in order to create this complete and happy life that society has sold us.

“You’re 30… single… & childless?! There MUST be something wrong with YOU. You must not be looking hard enough. “

What complete BS.

I was 29 when I got married and 30 when my son was born. A lot of people think this is the ideal age for marriage and starting a family but in reality… that is just how MY life played out. I had many people question when I would settle down and then on my wedding day people already asking about children.

I think it’s important more now than ever that we allow women to make their own decisions on marriage and children and when is the right time for them, if ever, to take that path. We need to encourage women that self happiness is worth so much more than just settling and that age is truly just a number. Lets stop the stigma that a single woman over the age of 30 is on a timeline and her worth is decreasing.

Don’t let society’s pressure dictate your future and remember that everything perfect for you comes in due time. Let’s raise this next generation of young women to be independent and strong but most of all to know that we are more than just our age. Below I have linked SK-II video to this great campaign. Please watch it and have a tissue handy.

Spring has finally sprung here in NJ… Hallelujah! Seriously – I really thought we were going to have to live in long pants and sweaters for the month of May but everyday it warms up a bit more. Spring is the perfect time to freshen up your kids wardrobe for outdoor fun, playdates as well as those special occasion BBQs. Thanks to Oshkosh B’gosh, revamping Victor’s closet has been easy breezy.

Their Spring collection includes soft and light weight fabrics, tanks with fun prints and must have comfy shorts. What I love most is their pieces are super on trend for the season but at an affordable price point!

I absolutely loved this look on Victor! How stylish does he look but best of all – he was super comfortable! This ended up being his Easter outfit and he was able to run all over the yard and roll around with the dog while still looking dapper. He’s going to get a ton of use from these pants this Spring.

This outfit was also a big hit. The button down makes him look really put together and I paired it with terry shorts so he’s ready for a fun day at the park.

Oshkosh B’gosh has pieces that you can mix and match as well as dress up or down and that is really important when shopping for your little ones. Here are a  few other outfits that would be perfect for your son or daughter this spring.

The honeymoon is suppose to be the relaxing part of getting married. It’s where you jet off somewhere to unwind and finally be able to kick your feet up after all those months of vigorous wedding planning. Unfortunately for some people, planning the honeymoon can just be added stress. Where do you go? What do you do? What is the best time to visit?

Ahhh, ok. I get it.

Planning in general isn’t for everyone. For me though – planning vacations is MY THING. I love researching places, activities to do, must see sites etc. BUT every once in awhile I stumble across a website or book that just helps me tremendously and that is exactly why I wanted to share The Honeymoon Handbook with you guys.

First of all – reading through this book gave me major wanderlust. After making a mental list of all the places that need to go on my bucketlist I started to take in all the super useful information.

Here are 2 of my favorite tips from the book:

Planning tips will help you cover off the basics and bypass the stress, with advice on:

– When to go, how long to go for, and how to factor in seasons and climates

– How to build a multi-stop honeymoon

– How to pick hotels

– Working out a realistic budget, and sticking to it

– How to compromise with your other half

– The benefit of mini-moons, and how to plan the best one possible

– Getting married abroad, including logistics and legalities

– A host of top-rated destinations, listed by type of trip

– The best destinations for same sex couples

While this book technically is for helping you book a honeymoon, the tips and information you find in it can be applied for any vacation you need help planning. Click HERE to find + purchase the book (ps it’s ON SALE!)

On September 16th – Victor turned ONE! Like every other baby his age – he absolutely loves Mickey so we knew right away that we had to have a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme. Luckily for us, my mom is a DIY wizard and we have a pretty awesome backyard that is perfect for parties. Having a party at your home and making the decorations yourself doesn’t save time but it does save money, and I consider that a win.

I was obsessed with Victor’s outfit for his big day. I purchased his custom onesie from a shop on Etsy, which you can find HERE, and paired it with black denim shorts that had suspenders (which is why I customized his shirt to eliminate the printed suspenders you see in the link above) and some super cool black and red Jordans.

As far as decor, I created his name in wooden blocks and decorated them in Mickey colors. Thanks to THIS video, it was super easy to create. I purchased white wooden blocks from Michaels Craft Store as well as red and black paint and buttons.

1: I taped the middle of each block. I started with painting the red bottom on each letter.

2: The next day, when dry – I painted the top of all of the blocks in black. IMG_4331

3: Once dry, I removed the tape – and painted the empty space with red and cleaned up the lines. I then added the buttons. IMG_4333IMG_4512

I was sooooo happy with how they came out!

For the outside decor, my mom did all of the balloon art, including the awesome arch. My mother is super talented when it comes to party planning and decorations. We also purchased a few things from Party City and Amazon and it all came together perfectly. We had 2 inflatables and also hired a Mickey Mouse who did balloon art for the kiddies and also brought with him a photobooth – which was a HUGE hit with the adults. The cake was from Shoprite and our local one does amazing artwork so we were really happy with how it came out and as usual, it tasted delicious!

Overall, it was a perfect day! I always appreciate when people make time to attend the special parties we host and Victor’s 1st Birthday was an important one for us so we are really thankful for all of our Family and Friends who made it. Victor had a blast and someone (cough: Pop Pop) even snuck him a lollipop at the end! 🙂 Here are some pictures of his big day!
