My monthly Beauty Boxes are starting to roll in for the month of January

1st up – BIRCHBOX!

BB

This month’s box includes a fold-out poster with 25 ideas for ways to maximize your personal happiness such as not swearing off all carbs and eating breakfast. I actually LOVED this detail of the box and I plan to share some of the “25 ways to make 2013 awesome” with you all throughout the month.

My deluxe beauty samples this month were:

BB2

1. (2) Kérastase’s Masque Chroma Riche Treat conditioner packets

2. Frownies Eye Gels Under Eye & Eyelid Treatment

BB3

I am so excited to try the Frownies Eye Gels. In each pack you get 1 reusable set that can be used up to 4 times. You wear the pair of patches for  half hour and refrigerate after each use. Initially you should wear these for 3 nights in a row, then continue with treatment once a week. I will review these when I get a chance to test them out. If I see a difference I plan to continue using them.

BB4

3. DDF Wrinkle Resist Plus Pore Minimizer Moisturizing Serum

4. Harvey Prince Skinny Chic

At the age of 27 I do worry about the prevention of wrinkles so DDF Wrinkle Resist will be worth the try, especially since it includes a pore minimizer.

I instantly laughed when I read about the Harvey Prince Skinny Chic. This fragrance basically says that a spritz curbs cravings as well as gives an instant energy life. I am doubtful that it actually does what it states but I will say that it smells amazing!

BB5

5. theBalm Cosmetics Hot Mama Shadow & Blush All-in-One

The color swatched on my skin was a very pretty shade and I can see it being a beautiful color for both blush and shadow.

Overall I was not thrilled about this box. It did have some highlights such as the Frownies but I am so over receiving Perfume Samples in my monthly boxes. I will say that this particular months fragrance sample was my favorite though just because it was different. For $10 a month though, I have no complaints and I am excited to see what goodies next month’s will bring!

Beyoncé is the face of the February 2013 issue of GQ

… & the cover has been leaked!

Beyonce GQ

Rocking a cut off sports tee, gold body chain and itsy bitsy red leopard undies – the 31 year old mother of 1 is giving us all body envy. She looks spectacular! There is not much detail about the issue but there has been talks of a Beyoncé + Lady Gaga collaboration. Between this spread and her performing at the Super Bowl Half-time show on February 3rd – we can all agree that Lady B is not only starting off the year with a BANG but will be having a hell of a month!

Harper’s Bazaar US February 2013 issue cover features the phenomenal Jennifer Lopez.

At 43 years old, she is getting more beautiful with age. Inside the magazine she talks about her career, adorable children, her younger beau and even that infamous Versace gown worn to the Grammys in 2000.

On keeping it simple:  “I like the whole idea of traveling, of looking good, and doing it well. I make it as simple and as beautiful as I can because my life is kind of big. So I pack my luggage, or dress myself, or comb my kids’ hair, pick up their clothes– that makes our life beautiful, you know? There’s something very elegant in that.”

Let’s not forget about these Giuseppe Zanotti shoes — AMAZING.

Wedge Sneakers: FUN Trend or FUNny looking?

My first thought when I saw that  Wedge Sneakers were making a comeback:  How could anyone think that putting a platform inside of a shoe that is used for active wear could be “cute” or stylish at all!

Am I the only one who instantly thinks of the Spice Girl shoes that were  SO IN during the 90’s?

After I got over my initial ill-favored reaction (which I want to note took many months) I actually started to see some cute ones and now I’m torn on how I feel about them. I have yet to purchase a pair though, I think they would just go unused and this year I plan to not purchase things that are going to just sit in the closet.

Here are some of my finds:

floral21

Forever 21 – Floral Wedge Sneaker $38

blk21

Forever 21 – Black Faux Suede Wedge Sneaker $40

jc

Jeffrey Campbell – ‘Teramo’ Sneaker $240

ash

Ash – Colorblock Lace Up Wedge Sneaker $250

Go Jane – Leopard Wedge Sneaker $32

How do you feel about Wedge Sneakers?

If you own a pair – what is your favorite type of outfit to pair them with?
